  • Another Whale of a Day

I took my two sisters out on the boat yesterday morning to go see some whales.  I have been working on repairing a leak in my boat for about 2 weeks.  Mission Accomplished.   I know some of you can't believe that I repaired it my self.  Desperate times call for desperate moves.  We are very low on the money gage right now so I could not afford anyone to do it.  Anyway yesterday was fun as always but an adventure.  Very rough and windy and cold.  Not your typical day in Paradise.  We were drenched by the end of the trip and very few whale sightings.  We were close to a breach but the wind and surf made it hard to see.

24 hours later.  Clear.  Calm and warm.  Your typical day in paradise and the whales were off the chart.  We even saw the very very rare double breach.  I got a shot.  Even though it is not very sharp it at least proves we saw it.  We also had a baby and mother swim under our boat 4 times.  I felt very small in our 20 foot boat.  The last time we saw the mother, escort whale and the baby all swimming one on top of the other.  I grabbed my underwater housing and the camera had a dead battery.  Yiks I could kick myself for that bonehead move.  Oh well.  It will be in my brain shots for life.  You know the shots where you forgot your camera and the most amazing situation appears and your shot is in your head but that is it.  Memory only.  Anyway here are a few shots I though you might enjoy and by the way the boat is still afloat!

One of my favorite tail shots ever.
